Located in central Aarhus, Denmark, Europaplads 8 is a new multi-use commercial building. With an open plan design arranged around a large, central atrium, the ground floor features a number of shared spaces, including break out areas, meeting and conference rooms and a canteen, with the upper floors dedicated to office space.
Designed by ARDESS Architecture and Design, the building’s two distinct profiles form a striking addition to the architecture of the city centre. The lower part of the building clad in natural stone is referred to as 'Klippen' (the Danish word for the rock or cliff); and the upper floors, named ‘Skyen', (the sky) beautifully reflects its surroundings with floor-to-ceiling windows and an aluminium façade.
Law firm Poul Schmith/Kammeradvokaten has installed new offices over three floors in the prestigious development, benefiting from the meticulous space planning undertaken by the architect to create a dynamic and inspiring workplace. Junckers Oak Twin Herringbone flooring has been installed across all three floors to give a visual connection and identity to the space, a vital part of the overall expression of the interior.
Architect and Partner in ARDESS, Philip Brinch Sørensen was at the helm of the project as tenant advisor and space planner. For Poul Schmith/Kammeradvokaten, the choice of Junckers flooring was absolutely decisive in order to achieve the desired result and quality:
"Junckers flooring was selected for Poul Schmith/Kammerdvokaten’s new office space based on the quality of the wide range of solid wood floors, finishes and installation options available. With proven strength and durability, the oak flooring fulfils the criteria required for a high-end development, not least aesthetically. Junckers’ ability to provide reference projects with the same project typology was a decisive factor in the selection process for both Poul Schmith/Kammeradvokaten and ARDESS.”
Twin Herringbone is an updated version of a classic parquet floor. Made from Junckers’ classic two-stave flooring, each board consists of two rows of staves; one full-length and one with two half-length staves, which gives the floor an authentic pattern and elegant look. Twin Herringbone is delivered with a hardwearing factory-finished surface ready to walk on as soon as it is installed.
The building is certified as DGNB Gold.
